Chesters Hotel and Restaurant

Chester Hotel and Restaurant is an old-fashioned, slightly dated hotel a stone’s throw from Old Trafford stadium.

Location

The hotel is located on the A46 (Chester Road), just two minutes walk from Old Trafford. It is also well placed for travel to Manchester city centre, 2 miles away, as a direct bus operates on the main road and trains run from Manchester United station to Manchester Oxford Road and Manchester Piccadilly. If you don’t want to wait for a train or bus, a taxi would cost around £5. Manchester airport is 15 minutes away.

Rooms

There are 24 en-suite bedrooms, including two mini-suites. Every room has a hairdyer, free wifi, digital TV and a telephone. Tea- and coffee-making facilities are provided too. The rooms nearest the street can be quite noisy, so ask for one at the other side of the hotel if you are a light sleeper.

Facilities

Though it is fairly small, the hotel has a decent steakhouse restaurant and a bar, Riley’s. The restaurant is closed on Sunday evenings but does a roast in the afternoon. Free parking is available, but check with the hotel to see if there is space.  There are also conference facilities with room for 14 people. Complimentary wifi is available in all public areas.

Guest review

While most guests have found the hotel to be comfortable and good value for money (if perhaps in need of some renovation), there have been a few complaints that staff are rude and disorganised. Overall, the hotel averages a score of 8.4/10 based on cleanliness, comfort, location, services, staff and value for money.
